The Vintage Whites Market is almost here. We are so excited!! A road trip is sounding really fun right about now. Salt Lake City here we come. We are thrilled to get to do what we love, meet incredible people...AND hang out with family and friends. It really doesn't get better than that!! You might even get a glimpse of our Sisters Creed brother...he is an elusive one. But as he lives in SLC hopefully we can rope him into helping us haul a few things. Right Kirk? :)

Last weekend I went up to my mom's house for a little Sisters Creed work weekend. We had a great time and got so much accomplished!! There are some seriously darling things that will be coming to SLC. So cute!! In between lots of painting and creating we also did some serious booth strategizing for 2013 and got all our supplies ready to go.

 Bring on the Vintage Sale season!!

We have also had a new addition to the Sisters Creed family. My mom purchased a new black Avalanche (which is beautiful) and ended up also purchasing a much larger trailer (that happens to color coordinate with her truck!!) It is so much larger than her other utility trailer...perfect for packing with even more fun Sisters Creed merchandise!! This combo with take it's first road trip to SLC next week!!

Awesomeness!!

My mom's new purchase worked out great for me because I then bought her old trailer!! The timing was perfect. Woohoo. Sisters Creed is now a two trailer business!! Exciting.

I love it!! It's so cute.

After a hard working weekend I was super excited to fall asleep in my mom's cozy and highly fought over (by sisters) guest bedroom. Isn't it pretty? That bed (the one I used to sleep in in Jr. High) is COMFY!!


We are super excited to be vendors at this sale and so appreciate Vintage Whites Market bringing the Vintage LOVE to Utah!! Hope to see you there.

We are sad that Stacey isn't able to come to this sale but we have gained a few tag-alongs aka "helpers" :) My mom's husband, Ken, my husband Tyler, and our sweet daughter Bryn will be off on this adventure with us. I absolutely cannot wait to see my beloved Wasatch mountains again!! This sale should be fun and exciting. It isn't your typical vintage show. There will be lots of great classes and demonstrations.  Folk Magazine will be there. We love Folk Magazine!! There will be Music, Food and Fun. Come check it out.

We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!! We hope that you did too. We are super excited for 2013 and all the wonderful opportunities before us. Thank you for all the love and support during 2012. We truly appreciate it. We had a wonderful year!! 2013 looks to be just as bright.

We are so excited for our next vintage sale!! We are packing up and leaving the Pacific Northwest and heading to our old hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. We absolutely cannot wait. We are going to be vendors at the Vintage Whites Market. It is going to be great fun.

Two Women Country Christmas Antiques, Arts and Crafts Sale 2012

We were so excited to be a part of this fantastic sale this past weekend. It really is a highlight of our year. This vintage Christmas Sale is so much fun!! The Moran Prairie Grange was so charming and was decorated beautifully. The booths were stocked full of gorgeous items from so many of our amazing vendor friends. Dianna and Fielding Chelf of Two Women Vintage Goods host this wonderful weekend. Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of such a delightful event!!

For all of you who attended we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! We so enjoyed visiting with you about Christmas, your holiday memories, and traditions.The weekend was fun and festive and brought the Christmas Spirit. We came home excited to celebrate the holidays with our families and friends.

Thank you to the Chelf family for all of their hard work and dedication that goes into hosting one of these vintage shows. We appreciate all that you do!!

Thanksgiving Traditions

One aspect of the vintage business that I love so much is the sharing of history...personal and otherwise. I love finding old objects and wondering who owned them and what the story is behind them. I love it when our customers share their memories with us at shows and when we are able to remind them of a special time in their lives or of people they have loved. It is that personal connection to others and to the past that makes this business so rewarding.

Sisters Creed is a family business and we are, of course, all about family and traditions. As I have mentioned before we come from a family of antiquers and downright junkers. All of my grandparents have had such a loving respect for those who have gone before and the legacy they left behind and we are proud to be following in their footsteps.

Growing up we had a lot of family traditions...particularly around the holidays. We love to hear about other people's family traditions and have implemented many "good ideas" into our own family repertoires. This year all of the McClellans kids are going to be spread all over the place celebrating Thanksgiving. Some will be in Idaho, some in Washington, some in Utah, and some in Kansas City. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving and feeling close to those I love I thought I would do a little Thanksgiving Meme about the Sisters Creed family and our Thanksgiving traditions.

1. Where do you usually celebrate Thanksgiving? 

As many of us that can usually gather at my Mom's house or we go to the lake to celebrate with extended family. Stacey loves to host at her house as well. My mom does Thanksgiving to the nines. It is elegant, beautiful, delicious, fun and festive.



2. Do you make stuffing or dressing? What kind?

We make dressing even though we still call it stuffing...but it isn't stuffed. My mom is well-known for making a delicious sourdough sage stuffing. Over the past several years though she has upped her game and improved on an already fantastic stuffing. A few years ago she added sausage and last year she added roasted chestnuts and completely out did herself. This is the new must-have stuffing. She still makes her original/vegetarian version too.

3. What side dishes are a must-have in your family? 

We have a lot of must haves. We are very particular that all the traditional sides are accounted for...the one side dish that we HAVE to have are homemade noodles eaten on top of our mashed potatoes with gravy. This tradition comes from our West Virginian Great-Grandma and our Nana. I love this Southern twist. It is definitely a MUST-HAVE. We also MUST HAVE my mom's amazing gravy which we call "liquid gold"...and brussel spouts and killer mashed potatoes. Also, pumpkin pie and pecan pie are must-haves along with Tyler's grandmas's homemade rolls.

4. If/when you go to someone else’s house for the holiday, do you usually bring a dish? If so, what is it?
 I (Kristin) always bring homemade pies. I usually bring two pecan pies and two cherry pies. We also usually bring Tyler's Grandma Kofford's Parker House Rolls...made by Tyler. He'll have to make a batch when we get home to eat with our leftovers too.

 5.) What new recipes will you try this year?

We usually throw something new into the mix each year, but this year up at my Mom's house, we are going purely traditional. Stacey is hosting Thanksgiving for her husband's family and she is mixing it up with some new things. Can't wait to hear how it goes.

6.) Three best pies for Thanksgiving dessert?

That would be my pecan, my cherry and my mom's pumpkin pie. :)
 
7.) What time do you eat Thanksgiving dinner?

It is our family tradition to eat Thanksgiving dinner by candlelight. We usually gather in the afternoon for appetizers and drinks but we don't eat our big dinner until around 5 or 6pm. I absolutely love it that way. It makes if feel extra special somehow and it lets us enjoy the whole day together and all the festivities aren't over by 2pm with everyone in a food coma. :)

8.) Favorite leftover?

For me, it is Killer mashed potatoes and my mom's liquid gold gravy!! And...her pumpkin pie for breakfast the next day. I know my mom loves turkey sandwiches on Tyler's homemade rolls. As for Stacey... I think she likes pretty much the same things as me and my mom. (Correct me if I am wrong Stac.)

9.) Do you carve the turkey at the table or serve it on a platter?

We carve the turkey and serve it on a platter. We have to. We all love the crispy skin. The turkey is usually scalped of all of it's delicious skin right out of the oven and looks pretty homely by the time we are serving it.

10.) Formal table or Chinet?

Most definitely formal. 

11.) After dinner do you go to the latest movie, watch football or take a turkey-induced snooze?

We usually talk, laugh, and play games and eat more food. 

12.) Do you watch the Macey's Parade?

Yep...it is a great way to keep the kids occupied while we are cooking. Plus eating later in the day allows us to watch while we are leisurely getting ready. But the biggest excitement is the "Westminster Dog Show".WE LOVE THAT!!

13.) Christmas decorations up before or after?

We differ in this...sometimes my mom does have her tree up and some years she doesn't. I always put up our tree and decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving. I don't like to mix the two holidays!! I like Thanksgiving to have it's due. Stacey, I think, doesn't decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving too.

14.) Black Friday shopping or sleeping in?
 
We aren't into Black Friday. (I personally loathe it.) We like to leisurely get up and enjoy the day and not be braving the mad crowds at the stores.

 15.) What do you wish you had that might make Thanksgiving easier?
 A ginormous kitchen and maid service. My mom, sisters, daughter, brother, husband and brother-in-law are all fantastic cooks and gourmet foodies. Everybody wants to whip something up and the kitchen is chaos. 

16.) Are leftovers a blessing or a curse?

A Blessing!! Since we spend Thanksgiving elsewhere we have to divide up all the leftovers among my siblings and their families. They are a hot commodity!!

 17.) Favorite thing about Thanksgiving?
  
Being with family, expressing gratitude for our many blessings, eating amazing food, reminiscing about times and loved ones past, laughing, laughing, and more laughing, and creating new memories.

(Stacey usually makes the brussel sprouts and cranberry sauce. She usually adds something different and delicious to the menu each year. My sister Kelley always makes the appetizers and does the cheese plate and she makes the world's best green beans. That pains me to say because I make really good green beans too. :)

It's ALMOST here!!

Christmas is our favorite time of year and this AMAZING sale is nearly here!! We absolutely cannot wait. We love it so much. It is the perfect way to kick off the holidays. So many wonderful vendors and booths chock full of gorgeous holiday decor. The three of us have been on the hunt all year...and across many states... for darling Christmas decorations and we have amassed some really beautiful and fun things. Our booth will definitely be stocked to the brim with our festive finds. Please come and start celebrating the holiday season with us and do some holiday shopping!! There will be fabulous vintage and handmade holiday items, antiques and more.

Three Generations of Sisters Creed

Sisters Creed is a fun family business...it is even more fun when the next generation gets involved. EARLY Saturday morning my daughter, Reilly, and I headed up to Sandpoint, Idaho to attend the Marketplace Antiques Warehouse Sale. We love this sale!! Every time we have gone we always find fun things and this year was no different.

Our first stop was my Mom's house to oohh and aahh over her new stash of old hardware. So pretty!! I can't wait to see how it will all be reimagined and styled.

And we had to make some serious plans for this bad boy...

We love this old drafting desk!! Wait until you see what we have in store!! Stay tuned.

Then it was off to the delicious Pine Street Bakery for croissants and hot chocolate while we waited for the warehouse sale to begin.

Pretty much the cutest grandma and granddaughter around!! When Reilly was little and we would ask her what she wanted to be when she grew up she would always say "I want to be Grandma!!" :) 

The warehouse sale was amazing and our favorite finds of the morning were spools and spools of gorgeous vintage Christmas ribbon. We cleared them out!!  You will have to come see what we do with it at our next sale:

The Mad Hatter Vintage Flea Market and Happy Halloween

It's been awhile since we have done a blog post and we never did write up what a fun time we had at the Mad Hatter Vintage Flea Market. So I guess it is about time!!

First things first...

We had an absolutely incredible time at the Mad Hatter Vintage Flea Market. This is one of our very favorite vintage sales. Gladys and Celia of Junebug Furniture and Design have such fantastic taste and style. (Read their blog post and see what I mean!!) They put on the most amazingly beautiful show that truly is a feast for the senses. Even on set-up day the venue was gorgeous. The Five Mile Grange is so charming and with all the pumpkins, gourds and fall decor it was just delightful. Then the inside...even before the vendors had set-up...was a magical scene straight out of Wonderland. They do such an excellent job with the decor and their perfect little touches here and there. They are wonderful hostesses that make all of their vendors feel valued and appreciated. We just love those ladies.

This sale kicks off Autumn for us. It gets us excited for the harvest season, Halloween and Thanksgiving. My mom (Victoria) absolutely loves the holidays and celebrates them with much enthusiasm. Every year she decorates her home to the hilt with such exuberance and enthusiasm for each and every holiday. She is the most festive person I know.

Every year at the Mad Hatter my Mom likes to do a Halloween theme...with a little Thanksgiving thrown in for good measure...

 There were ghosts, witches, black cats, skeletons and spooky owls galore.

There were touches of Thanksgiving with pumpkins, turkeys, linens, dishes and platters for entertaining along with home decor.

We had an absolutely amazing time and enjoyed visiting with all of you who came out and shopped. You are all so enthusiastic too. We love it!! It was a fantastic weekend and we were so thrilled to be a part of it all. Thanks so much to Gladys and Celia!!

My mom has definitely passed her festiveness onto her children. All five of us love decorating for the holidays and celebrating them with enthusiasm and panache.

Here are a few scary sights from my house these days...

Whatever the reason my kids find this particularly creepy!! Ha ha. ;)

This is their very favorite Halloween decoration...the ghost. I found it at an estate sale several years ago and couldn't part with it. The ghost figurine looks like a ceramic figurine but is actually a vintage squeaky toy. My kids love scaring everyone with that thing!!

We also are super fond of blow molds around here...for each and every holiday. Last year my sister, Kelley, purchased a ghost from Hollie and Gail at the Mad Hatter Sale. Her little daughter, Elle, just loved that ghost and would kiss it and kiss it. My daughter, Bryn, (who is the same age) loved that thing too and would kiss it when she would go over to Aunt Kelley's. Imagine her delight when Aunt Stacey pulled a very similar one out of her treasures for the Mad Hatter Sale!! That baby didn't even make it into the grange. I had to buy it on the spot! It has since received a lot of love!! ;)
